When a Joke Becomes Reality
It ceases being funny.
That's why the President's speech last night was so scary. When I wrote these comments a few weeks ago it was clearly in jest. Obviously these things would never work. They haven't worked in America as a whole, and they would be certain to fail if applied to New Orleans. We know they've attempted some of these things in Iraq, and of course that place is a booming zone of commerce.
So to hear the President espousing some of these ideas, such as his plan to not raise taxes on anyone (ever), it's really frightening.
Seriously, this guy needs to die. I'm not saying be killed because I don't advocate for the death penalthy against retarded people, but if he had a heart attack we'd all be so much better off. Then we'd get to see Dick say the same stuff, but more people would see these ideas for what they really are: bad ideas.

Was I Crazy?
Or just drunk?
I thought the Bush speech last night was BY FAR his worst to date.
Every time I had a chance he mentioned churches. Then he comments on how the local laborers are going to get the jobs, etc! HOW GOOD OF YOU! What happens when they don't get the jobs? No mention of you cutting their pay, right?
David Kusnet, former speechwriter, gave it high praise!
Seriously, I was appalled by his speech. Usually I just laugh, but this time I was really hoping a cannonball came and took his fucking head off. He's so disingenuous it's painful.

The People of Liberal San Fran
They hate Bush. He's a liar and a cheat, right? Right.
So why is Barry Bonds getting a standing ovation?
So why is Barry Bonds getting a standing ovation?
Who Knew?
Apparently the first step in forming a democracy is enticing Al Qaeda to come to your country and blow shit up.
They weren't really there before the democracy plan...

Kids, What Can't They Do?
They can make you say, "Awwwww." Sometimes they can make you cry. Other times you may even laugh. Hey, they can even sell you a set of Michelins! Now that's something.
But who knew they could get a Senate to ignore a candidates past? I mean, do a little dance, where an outfit fitting for Thanksgiving at Plymouth Rock, and you're good! That's all it takes these days for half the media to ignore someone's record.
I was watching CSPAN last night as little Jack Roberts sat on Dad's lap during the hearing. Are you fucking kidding? Does that need to happen as we examine the record of a man nominated to lead the highest court in the world? I mean, I was speechless as I watched this kid squirming around in Dad's lap, only to see those photos as the only photos on at least two news programs.
"Awwwww, look at that, honey. He has a little boy. He must be a good man. Hey, honey, did you grab those Michelins I asked you about?"
It's like this country gets stupider by the day. And if you think for a second the White House didn't tell this guy to get that fucken kid on camera you are CLEARLY clueless. Afterall, if this can't control his own kid, or can't figure out what to do with the kid, why in the world should I believe he has the ability to craft laws affecting every human on the planet?
Yeah, that's a stretch, but seriously, we are so dumb it's unbelievable. A little kid in knickers has captured our imagination as we attempt feebly to examine the record of a man who has an excuse for every single judgement or opinion he has ever made.

My Take
There will never be peace in Israel.
All you have to do is read how the "Palestinians" have acted the last few days to know this. These folks are looting things left for them, and paid for by others, like greenhouses which help all the people. All you have to do is read the stories about weapons flowing in Gaza. These people aren't "settling" in, they are ratcheting it up.
So one can say, "Hey, it's not everyone in Gaza, but only a few." Yeah? Well that's great then. But that doesn't mean there is going to be peace.
Many Arabs may not take part in the acts of violence these people commit against the Israelis but I'd be willing to bet most of them don't have a problem with such violence. While these people may not participate are they going to actively clamp down on those who do commit violent acts if they inherently agree with the position by those in action? I don't think so. They may not be involved, but that doesn't mean they'll stop it.
Leaders of the Arab world know the Israeli conflict must go on. In theory, the idea of a democratic Iraq is a good one, but that theory has to encompass factors that will never come to be. For example, these people will always hate Jews, will always have militant factions, and will most likely always have few options. Let us not pretend this supposed democracy is going to spill over throughout the region because chances are democracy in Iraq isn't going to help these countries gain anything substantial.
Things are no different in Gaza, and elsewhere. These people will never make the gains necessary to shelve their tempers. The major powers of the world will always pull away, and for those who are left behind they will always wreak havoc.
So many young Arabs are taught to hate, kill, and destroy. For those that do live they will grow up not to be actively involved in civil life, but will gravitate toward violence when things aren't good. It's not like in America when you don't land a job you just get assistance, remain poor, or do something else. Many of these people are raised to be bad, and you cannot remove the bad from most of them. Multiple generations will have to pass before you can truly cleanse these people of what they've learned from their elders.
It's not going to happen. Today they hate Jews (and tomorrow, and forever), but if the Jews weren't the problem then jobs will be the problem. Violence, so ingrained in their collective psyche, will always be an option. A society cannot function like that, and there's will not. It also doesn't hurt when millions of dollars are pouring in to help fuel the fire.
Of course, our SUVs aren't helping either, but trying telling an American Jew that, or a Southern Baptist as well...

Why Does Tom Kean
Hate America?
"While we still believe that the entire document could be made available to the public without damaging national security, we welcome this step forward," the former leaders of the commission, Thomas H. Kean and Lee H. Hamilton, said in a joint statement...
Other deletions, however, highlighted more serious security concerns. A footnote that was originally deleted from the report showed that a quarter of the security screeners used in 2001 by Argenbright Security for United Airlines flights at Dulles Airport had not completed required criminal background checks, the commission report said. Another previously deleted footnote, related to the lack of security for cockpit doors, criticized American Airlines for security lapses.
Quiet Escalation
Did you know this week there has been a battle in Northern Iraq that rivals the Battle for Fallujah? While you were Katrina focused they were stepping shit up to another level:
Btw, yesterday's Bush speech with Talabani was one for the ages. He thanked Iraq for sending us aid for Katrina. That's right, the IRAQIS ARE SENDING US AID!!!
Iraqi forces backed by US troops continued on Monday a major offensive against insurgents in Iraq's northern restive town of Tal Afar. You watch because this battle is going to really pay dividends.
"The Iraqi forces are chasing the surrounded terrorists in al-Saray district in Tal Afar," Iraqi Interior Minister Biyan Jabr Solagh told a news conference.
Brigadier Abdul Aziz Muhammed said 157 insurgents were killed and 291 suspected insurgents captured in the battles.
"We have also seized 24 caches of weapons and discovered 12 booby-trapped houses," Muhammed told reporters at the news conference.
Solagh said Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari has arrived at Tal Afar in a surprise visit to the town.
Al-Jaafari, commander in chief of the Iraqi armed forces, said on Saturday that he had given orders to Iraqi forces to launch the offensive against insurgents in Tal Afar.
Tal Afar, some 420 km north of Baghdad, is believed to be a stronghold for foreign fighters and insurgents against the US and Iraqi government forces.
Ethnic Turkmen account for 90 percent of the population there, about 70 percent of whom are Sunnis. Enditem

Stunned
I'm sitting here taking IMs from people who think Bush took responsibility for Katrina. He didn't really. He blamed, and then acted as if he was doing us a favor by taking the responsibility.
What's amazing to me is had this been a terrorist attack look how unprepared we would have been under Mr. Terror Stopper himself!
Sure, had this involved crazy terrorists he would have been standing on a pile a lot quicker, or had this been called Hurricane Khan I'm sure that would have jolted him into action. But here we are, involved in a major disaster, and his leadership, which is supposedly why he was elected, was completely lacking.
If he can't handle this then what is it that he can handle on his own? Do you not think ANY of the other presidential candidates wouldn't have done a better job?
Get real.

The Hot Zone!
So Yahoo! has hired their first reporter, and he's going balls deep into the thick of shit. No, he's not gay...
Here's what's great about it, and another great thing about the internet. The reporter, Kevin Sites, made some news earlier in the Iraq War when he video recorded an innocent Iraqi being shot by a US Soldier. The Arab world, needless to say, was uninspired by the idea of democracy during this time.
What excites me is that Sites will have the ability to blog and send video real time, unedited. As much as the US Government wants to shield us from the realities of war, the internet is again proving to difficult to control. I'd bet there's pressure on television stations to start showing the realities of war if the Internet becomes the only place you can get true, unedited news. This in turn will turn up the heat against the warmongers, and will result in the US relying less on force, and more on real diplomacy and real solutions.
It's amazing how such a simple concept/idea can transform the world, and will.
Digressing, last night on CNN they showed soldiers trying to stop reporters from videorecoding dead bodies in the street, which were then loaded into vehicles. A US soldier, who unfortunately had to put in the middle of this situation, was telling the press they couldn't film here. The CNN correspondents jumped down this kid's throat and told him they could. They had a judge's order stating just that.
I felt bad for the kid. You know he was just following orders, and really didn't have the knowledge to refute what they we're saying. He was a bit nervous. He made a phone call, and the CNN reporters were correct. The US military then set up blockades to block their view, which is completely legitimate in my eyes. What disturbs me is the order from the Pentagon was an illegal order, or whomever gave the order. It was reported that CNN contacted the Pentagon and they gave the green light. That's probably true, but you know the Pentagon gave the first order to shielf, and then the green light afterwards. CNN didn't touch on this fact, but should have knowing full well the Pentagon was giving an order which was not legal.
That's our government at work, aka, not working for us.

Zell Miller's State
Good Times:
"Dang! Why can't we figure to get dem niggers to vote for us? I thought we'd really get em with the school choice thang..."
In 1966, the Supreme Court held that the poll tax was unconstitutional. Nearly 40 years later, Georgia is still charging people to vote, this time with a new voter ID law that requires many people without driver's licenses - a group that is disproportionately poor, black and elderly - to pay $20 or more for a state ID card. Georgia went ahead with this even though there is not a single place in the entire city of Atlanta where the cards are sold. The law is a national disgrace.Oh, this is a good one. For Zell Miller can't seem to remember the Democratic Party he once identified with. He only sees the good in the current Republican Party.
"Dang! Why can't we figure to get dem niggers to vote for us? I thought we'd really get em with the school choice thang..."
Okay, Okay
If you want to assume that I had something to do with this, fine, then I'll take a little bit of responsibility:
Listen, we already know you don't know how to deal with a severe attack. We're almost past that (but still paying for it), but now we're aware of the fact that you don't know how to deal with two jobs you've supposedly dealt with.
I love how the "federal government didn't do its job right." I love that. Even when you're the federal government you still point out that the entity itself failed, which is the mantra of your party. It's truly amazing. I'm sure jackoffs across the nation are thinking, "Yeah, he's right. It's the federal government, again, failing us! Not Bush! Not conservatives! They hate the federal government, and all their controllers...Liberals love the federal government!"
If there's an easy position that doesn't assign blame to themselves, rest assured, they'll find it, and use it. Over and over and over and over...
"Gosh darnit, I need to know why its not workin'! Who's gonna teach me? I brought in Condi for Foreign Policy, but I never knew there'd be domestic concerns too. I need to do some delegatin'."
To think you hired Mike Brown, fired Mike Brown, and yet you're so good as to take some responsibility. That's so big of you.
"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government," Mr. Bush said. "And to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility."I want to know! I want to know! The thing is, you don't know because you're too dumb to know. Who do you want to tell you these things? Weren't you a governor? Shouldn't you know? Shouldn't you understand what is Governor Blanco needed to do, and how she should react? Aren't you the President? Shouldn't you understand more than anyone involved how this should work?
"I want to know what went right and what went wrong," Mr. Bush added. "I want to know how to better cooperate with state and local government, to be able to answer that very question that you asked: Are we capable of dealing with a severe attack or another severe storm?"
Listen, we already know you don't know how to deal with a severe attack. We're almost past that (but still paying for it), but now we're aware of the fact that you don't know how to deal with two jobs you've supposedly dealt with.

Right, But
Roberts:
We all understand the job of an umpire, but are also aware that no two umpires are alike. Some are fat and die on the field. Others are in great shape. Some like to take on players and managers, while others are more relaxed.
Great analogy, John.
I'm not buying...
"Justices and judges are servants of the law, not the other way around," Roberts told the Senate Judiciary Committee. "Judges are like umpires. Umpires don't make the rules; they apply them. Nobody ever went to a ballgame to see the umpire."Some umpires have a high strike zone, and some low. Some like to call balls and strikes in an extravagant manner, while others are more mild-mannered.
We all understand the job of an umpire, but are also aware that no two umpires are alike. Some are fat and die on the field. Others are in great shape. Some like to take on players and managers, while others are more relaxed.

Idiots Abound
I'm not sure how many of you are privy to CN8, the Comcast Cable channel we get here in Jersey City, and across New Jersey, but if you're so lucky you may come across Lynn Doyle and her round table of idiots. Probably the most unentertaining cast of characters since the band Tears for Fears.
Last night they had their standard roundtable, but added a woman named Debbie Schlussel to the discussion, via Detroit. It was bad enough they had the 3 men they usually have, but her annoying voice really took it to a new level. I do, however, want to thank her for adding a ridiculous comment which is so typical of rightwing idiots: How come Bill Clinton didn't fix the levees!
THERE IT IS! HOW COME BILL CLINTON DIDN'T FIX THE LEVEES?!?!?!
Seriously, even if Bill Clinton had fixed the levees the only way he would have gotten credit for it is if he himself had gone down to New Orleans and operated the trucks that were fixing the levees.
But I do want to answer the question as to "Why didn't Bill Clinton fix the levees?"
Honestly, I don't really know why Bill Clinton didn't fix the levees. I do know the report stating the levees needed to be fixed immediately was issued in 2002. I know Bill Clinton wasn't the President then. Besides, he was probably still reeling from having caused 9/11 a year earlier.
See, CONGRESS passes the budget, and CONGRESS was in the hands of CONSERVATIVES throughout Clinton's term. Sure, Clinton could have vetoed legislation that didn't have the fixing of levees as part of it, but I think that probably would have been a little ridiculous. Only Conservatives can shutdown the government for incredibly partisan and ridiculous reasons. That we know.
"Not sure what you were doing, Bill, but while you were out we were signing a Contract With America. You must have missed that!"
Now I keep hearing Louisiana received the most money for the Army Corps of Engineers, which is true, but how is that money being spent? Who is deciding which projects will be started, finished, or ignored? Does it matter that the state gets the most money? Not really if it's not being spent the right way.
Whether or not a state receives the most amount of dollars is not a concern to me as long as the money is being spent correctly. Was it?
I'm not surprised to read the money was being spent on the wrong projects. I'm also not surprised to read that the supposedly conservative Congress, which has the largest budget IN HISTORY, spends money on Gulf Coast states to help business thrive. These folks love to buy votes. Gulf Coast states are conservative states, and these states have oil and gas resources. OF COURSE THEY GET MONEY NOW, but how was it spent?
The problem with the levees is on many levels an environmental issue. Conservatives don't care about environmental spending. In fact, from what I hear, conservatives don't care for governmental spending at all. The market will fix everything.
When the Times Picayune of New Orleans is writing columns about an impending disaster under President Bush's watch I'm not surprised the information was ignored. Spending money on large government projects that have to do with the environment certainly doesn't reach priority status.
After watching a flooded out Indonesia, one would hope that under President Bush's watch an issue like this could be addressed, right? I mean, granted, the Editors at the Times Picayune didn't drop the report on his desk like the report that read: WAKE UP ASSFACE! WE'RE GOING TO ATTACK YOUR COUNTRY WITH PLANES. No, no, that didn't happen, but the money was flowing to the Corps we're told. More so than any other state. So what was being done? How was it spent?
Was this report issued under President Clinton? It was not. And why is it that the standard for how good a job President Bush does is Bill Clinton if conservatives found Clinton so deplorable? Why didn't the first Bush fix the levees? Why didn't Reagan?
Bush is allowed to expand government spending as much as he likes. Clinton was not allowed to. Bush did expand government spending more so than any President. Clinton balanced the budget.
More importantly than all of this isn't so much the levees, but the response to the disaster. It's funny, so many times I've heard Bush say, "We've got to have the resources for the first responders..." I guess Bush himself didn't have the resources to do anything considering how long it took himself to respond.
Did Bill Clinton have a hack sitting on top of FEMA? Did Bill Clinton have FEMA employees leaving government, and complaining about the politicization of the agency during his presidency? Did he? No, of course not, because Clinton isn't a fucking idiot who staffs agencies with unqualified hacks whose job it is to make sure the agencies don't work.
Did Bush have these things? Of course he did.
Bush is taking heat over his response to the disaster more so than the fact the levees weren't fixed. The issue about the levees runs much deeper than the hurricane itself. The levee issue is a fundamental discussion about government spending, and it is here that conservatives and liberals are completely divided.
Had you asked liberals and conservatives before the disaster a question, "Do you support federal spending on an environmental project that will cost upwards of $2 Billion to strengthen levees in New Orleans to avert a possible natural disaster?" which group do you think would have been more likely to support it? Even if you threw in the part about New Orleans looking like Sri Lanka, you think that would have changed the result?
Do conservatives even recognize that because of the way they run government questions about levees don't even arise? Afterall, enviros and others are worried about larger issues like the use of oil, global warming, smog, etc. that they can't even begin to fight every battle that comes up. Enviros don't have the resources to fight every battle, especially when groups with more money are funding politicians to support business at the expense of the environment.
If conservatives gave a rat's ass about environmental issues, and things of that nature, then the seemingly smaller issues like fixing levees may come up once in a while. But no, those who care about the environment, like Bill Clinton's supporters, have to fight every battle with conservatives over every environmental, or large government spending issue. Unless, of course, it's Don Young's Bridge to the Middle of Fucking Nowhere. That, of course, is as conservative as it gets.
If Bill Clinton didn't have a Congrees, and a bunch of assholes in the media telling everyone that government spending is such a bad thing he may have fixed the levees. But the tide has turned. In order for a politician to bring home money for large spending projects he, or she has to do it quietly, out of the eyes of the conservatives in the media. Unless, of course, that politician is a conservative. If that's the case you can spend as much as you want on pork projects, while ignoring the environment. That's what being a conservative is all about: ignorance.
Stop asking why others didn't do this or that, and start asking why your President doesn't do shit, EVER. The reports were issued under his watch. The Corps of Engineers received more money under his watch. So WHY WASN'T ANYTHING DONE? You're the party that "doesn't like to throw money at the problem,", yet you threw the most money at Louisiana. So, where'the "accountability?" You're the fiscally responsible! You're the accountable! How was that money spent under Bush's watch, and your Congress' approval?
We know how it was being spent. Like everything else: THE WRONG WAY.
I could go on, but I'll wait until the next dumb blond conservative idiot asks another dumb question...Wait, I think I hear it coming already. What was that you said, Ann?

How cute:
If you were offered a gig for $500,000 that you weren't qualified for would you take it? I'm sure you could go back and forth, pros and cons, but hopefully you'd ask yourself if taking this job could seriously hurt others.
Lets say you were asked to oversee operations at a nuclear power plant, but had no experience. The pay was $2 Million! Man, that's tempting. Afterall, there has to be other people there who know what they're doing. I can take the gig for a year, and then move on to something else, right?
I guess Michael Brown never realized he was heading an organization that may have to oversee a major catastrophe. Of course it's Bush's fault for tagging this guy, but it's Brown's fault for taking a job he had no business even being interviewed for.
I don't feel bad for this idiot.
"People want to lash out at me, lash out at FEMA," Brown told reporters. "I think that's fine. Just lash out, because my job is to continue to save lives."One could say it's not Brown's fault he took the job offered to him by this Administration, but one would have to overlook the responsibility factor.
How much longer it will be his job is in question.
"The more one learns about him," Republican commentator William Kristol said on Fox News, "one is surprised that he's in that job in the first place."

One More Thing
Yesterday I heard this on Meet the Press:
MR. RUSSERT: How would you grade the president's performance thus far, A through F?In other words, the people he trusts to give him the news, the people he surrounds himself with, either didn't know, or didn't care to tell him. Would you be surprised at either situation?
MAYOR NAGIN: How would I rate it?
MR. RUSSERT: Yes.
MAYOR NAGIN: Oh, I don't want to get into that, Tim. I mean, I will tell you this: I think the president, for some reason, probably did not understand the full magnitude of this catastrophe on the front end. I think he was probably getting advice from some of his key advisers or some low-level folk that had been on the ground that this was serious, but not as serious as it ended up being. My interactions with the president is, anytime I talked with him and gave him what the real deal was and gave him the truth, he acted and he made things happen.
Lets Make a Deal
Democrats want to blame Bush, and Republicans want to act like they're not blaming anyone while blaming the Democrats involved.
Lets say that Mayor Nagin, Governor Blanco, and President Bush are all responsible, okay?
We'll get rid of Nagin and Blanco if you rid us all of Bush. Then it's settled, right?
There was a lot of talk in the churches around the country yesterday about the possibility Bush would walk on water in New Orleans...

The Public Face
Once again, Paul Krugman nails how this administration operates, and the lack of qualified people popping up to run government agencies.
The reality is these people give away jobs in government to unqualified people as quickly as possible. Surprisingly, Krugman didn't mention Iraq! Of all the cronyism it's so surprising he should fail to mention how the Coalition Provisional Authority was staffed with partisan, uhhh, I'm not even going to say hacks since these people hadn't even reached the hack status yet. The CHILDREN of partisan hacks. Hacksters, if you will.
All we ever hear is how government isn't the answer, and how private businesses do such better work. Then, in high hypocritical fashion, conservatives start doling out gigs to every friend possible. It'd be one thing if these people receiving jobs actually believed the government could help people, facilitate competition, and make life for Americans better, but this isn't the attitude these people have. These people come in and do as little as possible, and then point to government as failing. Picking up a paycheck is priority one, which is pretty much the opposite consideration for most intelligent people who choose to help make government work.
If you think this is all hogwash, you needed to hear the bullshit coming out of Governor Mike Huckabee's mouth in New Hampshire a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, C-Span took down the video link, and there's no official text of the event, but it was one for the ages.
Huckabee told a little anecdote about a friend of his asking him if he could find a job for his son. It went something like this:
Friend: Mike, my son needs a job.
Huckabee: Well, I'm not sure what I can do for him.
Friend: C'mon, Mike, he's a good guy. He just needs to get going in the right direction.
Huckabee: Okay. Well, what does he want to do?
Friend: Right now he'll do anything.
Huckabee: Okay. Well, what's he good at?
Friend: Nothing.
Huckabee: Perfect! We won't even have to train him!
APPLAUSE! LAUGHTER!
SO FUNNY!
Then Huckabee went on to say that government isn't the anwser to creating jobs. Of course, it's the answer to creating jobs for Haliburton, the Vice President's own company. It's also the answer for politicians and hacks to profit from hand over fist when they leave government. That it's good for.
See, Mike Huckabee, who will run for President, can say this outloud, and New Hampshire Republicans can hee and haw along with him because they're all in denial together.
The Hypocrisy Train just chugs along.
On another note, it's great how I cannot find footage of this event, or the text of it, anywhere. CSPAN pulled it down, and the Governor fails to mention this event on his website. Afterall, the people of Arkansas have to believe he's working for them. Huckabee is so proud of the event you'd be hard pressed to find public documentation of it.

Viewed from the outside, their experience illustrates many of the problems that have beset the U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), a paucity of experienced applicants, a high turnover rate, bureaucracy, partisanship and turf wars. But within their group, inside the "Green Zone," the four-mile strip surrounded by cement blast walls where Iraq's temporary rulers are based, their seven months at the CPA was the experience of a lifetime. It was defined by long hours, patriotism, friendship, sacrifice and loss.Read on if you've never seen this.
The CPA was designed to be a grand experiment in nation-building, a body of experts who would be Iraq's guide for transforming itself into a model for democracy in the Middle East. Unlike previous reconstruction efforts, it was to be manned by civilians -- advisers on politics, law, medicine, transportation, agronomy and other key areas. They were supposed to be experts, but many of the younger hires who filled the CPA's hallways were longer on enthusiasm than on expertise.

People of Peace
Riiiiight...
Jubilant Palestinians planted flags on the rubble of Jewish settlements and set synagogues ablaze on Monday as Israeli troops pulled out of the Gaza Strip after 38 years of occupation. What kind of a person sets temples on fire? Even demolition is less vicious than setting a place of worship a blaze. I expect nothing less from these people.
"This is a day of happiness and joy that the Palestinian people have not witnessed for a century," President Mahmoud Abbas told reporters in Gaza City.

Wondering
I watched the 9/11 Memorial Coverage this afternoon, and it was quite moving. Especially when my old friend Guy Barzvi's name was announced. It was unexpected. I was in the kitchen making French Toast and Eggs, and there was his name.
I started wondering about the people there, and the viewers around the country. I turned to CNN and war promoter, FOX News, to check out their coverage. There was no coverage. They were drowning in hurricane coverage. I quickly shot over to C-Span to see their coverage, but they were running dated footage of Madeline Albright from Wednesday, which is certainly paramount to 9/11 Memorial Coverage.
I'm not the kind of guy that needs to set aside any particular day to memorialize anything. That same goes for holidays and birthdays, which again, I don't exactly get too excited about for a host of reasons. I suck with dates, unless I can relate them to some Phish show I once saw/heard. However, 9/11/01 is certainly different.
I expected FOX to certainly be running coverage, and maybe they were popping in and out for all I know, but weren't when I checked in. This begs the question: Was their national coverage of this? I know all the local networks were running it, but what about in Kansas City? Salt Lake City? Lincoln? Billings? Were these red cities tuned into the prayers of those who lost, or were they settling down from yesterdays football games, and preparing for today's? I'd love to know. Afterall, they certainly knew how to use 9/11 to their advantage, but I wonder if they truly care about the families of those who were at Ground Zero today?
Again, I didn't spend my day in tribute, but the coverage was there, and I did tune in. I also read a little online about what the victimes are still dealing with today.
I really want to know what type of coverage was given to the event from coast to coast. I'd bet not much, but I've been wrong before.
Another thing, I can't get over that it's been 4 years, and after everything that has happened Bush is a second term president. It's absolutely absurd.
Take in this time because it will go down as one of the most ridiculous periods in US History. There was the "Greatest Generation." We will be known as something like, "The Divided Generation", "The Ignorant Generation", or, most likely, "The Moronic Generation."
