Another Day

And another sign of "progress."

If we could just find a way to siphon off all the oil then we could leave and let the country fester into whatever it's going to become.

But seriously...wait, that really was a serious thought. Okay, well, ummm, looking at reality for a second. Iraq is no different than any other oil producing country, which, again, is why we're there: to secure the likely largest oil field in the world. I know, tell yourself some bullshit thing about "freedom" and "democracy in the Middle East...", and then ask yourself if you ever really gave two shits about those things before this war started. You didn't. Everyone knows this. We're Americans. We hardly care about our own let alone others, especially "A Rabs."

Only a group such as the morons running the show now could possibly make the argument that we are pro-market, pro-capitalism all the way, etc. etc., and then at the same time say, "Iraqis are going to share the oil wealth to rebuild their country..." That's probably the most socialist thing you can do, no? What if I made the argument that we should start "sharing the oil wealth" in America, and then funding the government with it? Riiiiiiiight. Oh, so what you're saying is in order to build a country from the ground up socialism is the best starting point? No? Then what is it? Is it that if a few companies, or individuals owned the oil the people within that country would freak out, and revolt? Wow, aren't these people, who started the war, who have made their money in this very field, across the board, lucky we don't? Yeah, I guess.

Lets take a moment to give the Aussies credit for admitting it, almost.

Anyway, back to Iraq and the festering civil war that has begun, and will continue, with our desire to make sure the oil situation is somehow under control. Once that goes, well, all hell breaks loose, I assure you. I would think in due time, 10-20 years, Iraqi oil will be under control of someone, or some group. At which time we'll be the buyer of first resort (and China). Whomever controls the oil, like any other person/group will do their best to maximize profits, no different from the Saudis, or anyone else. So the bottom line is the country, knowing full well it will never be a functioning democracy, needs to get over this war hump and start moving toward the what is now the end goal: figuring out what the oil situation is going to be, if it's going to be a situation at all. Lets just move toward realizing how this whole thing is going to unfold, and how we can play a part in buying/using/controlling the oil.

Remember, everything in Baghdad went to shit, except one place. I know, I know, coincidences DO happen.

It's time to leave, it's time to put your dreams of chocolate rivers and marshmellow clouds to rst, and start the process of getting us to the inevitable point of what will be. It's not going to be Saudi Arabia, connected to the Bushes more so than any foreign family has ever been connected to a sitting President. It's going to be something else, out of our control, so LET GO people. LET GO.

You don't care about Iraqi deaths, so at least pretend to care about the Americans you can save.

I always felt Luis Gonzalez was the post-boy for steroid use.

Check out his numbers. Then notice the year after the Cubs he went back to Houston and did NOTHING, in 1998, when McGuire and Sosa started really juicing. After he does nothing he must have realized he needed to really boost his career, and then he just took off with crazy numbers, relative to what he had ever done before. And this guy played in Wrigley Field!
