My Fear

Is that the media has decided who the candidates for President will be, and Governor Richardson is not that guy.

He has more experience, in more fields, has GOVERNED a state, and would mop up any of his Republican rivals. Plus, his mother was Mexican, giving this country what it needs: a President who is other than white.

The media can't hail Fred Thompson, or Rudy, or Hillary, or Obama fast enough. Meanwhile, there's a candidate who can win New Mexico, maybe Arizona, and Florida, who is being completely overlooked.

Again, what a country.

Uh Huh

Laura is concerned:
WASHINGTON - Laura Bush is seeking to dispel any notion that her interests as first lady are limited to reading, education and baking cookies.

She met with a small group of reporters in her White House office Wednesday to discuss her concern about the crackdown on pro-democracy activists in the Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar.

"I've been interested in political issues like this, policy issues around the world, for the whole time George has been president," she said.
The WHOLE Time...but don't get her wrong. No longer than that.

"I want to be clear. Very clear. When he's out of office I will go back to baking cookies, and wiping a grown man's ass as long as I can continue to max out my credit card."

I Have Had Time to Reconsider

"And contrary to my original belief I'm not quite as gay as I thought."

My Guess?

It was Hillary:
Ohio Rep. Paul Gillmor was found dead in his apartment Wednesday, a Republican leadership aide said.

The aide said the body of the 68-year-old Republican was found by staff members who went to his apartment after he failed to show up for work. There was no immediate word on the cause of his death. Gillmor's office did not respond to a reporter's call.

Enough

L-L-L-L-L-Lloyd Carr is the worst bigtime coach in college football, no question. Is Michigan really going to wait until the season ends? What's the advantage here? Lets say he does run the table, and two other teams have 1 loss. They're going to the dance, not Michigan. Then you're forced to keep the guy who won the Big Ten and ran the table! It's lose lose for Michigan. Fire him now, let recruits think they're playing for a winner.

Charlie Weis, still the most overhyped person in sports, period. Other than beating L-L-L-L-L-Lloyd Carr once, the guy has not WON a big game. In fact, in many of his big games he has gotten killed!

It's time we recognize that even with incredible recruits, and all his supposed genius shenanigans, it was Tom Brady and Bill Belicheck that gave this guy his fame and fortune. Enough with the rah roah Notre Dame Charlie Weis cockamamey bullshit already. The guy is an average coach who, after a loss, looks like someone put grilled salmon on his plate for dinner when he really wanted chicken fried steak.

Almost Everybody...

This weekend was pretty comical for me and my bigtime Wall Street Sub-P Mortgage Trader buddy as we watched Bush give the crisis speech Friday morning. The news was mounting so that my buddy, we'll call him Carl, was going to leave LBI and head back to NYC during his vacation. Fortunately, he didn't, but there was some comedy.

First off, Bush, of course, said and did nothing because frankly, what is there to do when you've taken the positions he has over the years? Not much. But the highlight of it all was when Carl turned to me after a conference call with his desk and told me this:
So I just got off the phone with the guys in my office, and we were all discussing the ramifications of what Bush was saying, which really isn't much, WHICH makes this all the more odd. This one guy Brian was on the call, and we we're all sorta looking for something to gain from the speech, when Brian says, "Jesus Christ, that guy is such a moron!" We all started dying, and I said, "Okay, here we go, lets just move on...although, he is pretty fucking dumb..."

I'll tell you right now, they all voted for him...for their not too empty pocket.

Bottom line is all that remains are the worshippers, and those who cannot see beyond their own self interests, and that even speaks to that little part of you that refuses to admit how wrong you've been.

It became even clearer to me while reading Barron's take.

New Segment

Called, "This Week's Lie."

A previously undisclosed exchange of letters shows that President Bush was told in advance by his top Iraq envoy in May 2003 of a plan to “dissolve Saddam’s military and intelligence structures,” a plan that the envoy, L. Paul Bremer, said referred to dismantling the Iraqi Army.

Mr. Bremer provided the letters to The New York Times on Monday after reading that Mr. Bush was quoted in a new book as saying that American policy had been “to keep the army intact” but that it “didn’t happen.”

The dismantling of the Iraqi Army in the aftermath of the American invasion is now widely regarded as a mistake that stoked rebellion among hundreds of thousands of former Iraqi soldiers and made it more difficult to reduce sectarian bloodshed and attacks by insurgents. In releasing the letters, Mr. Bremer said he wanted to refute the suggestion in Mr. Bush’s comment that Mr. Bremer had acted to disband the army without the knowledge and concurrence of the White House.

In Bush's defense, it is possible he's so dumb he misread the correspondence, forgot, or some other bullshit reason. But then again, it's sad that the leader of the free world could use any of those excuses. Of course, he would.

Here's the article in question.

Cheers, Mate

Oh Beckham, such a major impact you had...on US fashion.
