Funny

President Bush is telling the UN what's going down in Burma:
"Americans are outraged by the situation in Burma," the president said in an address to the U.N. General Assembly.
Now, if you had a million dollars that you had to bet one way, or the other, and the options were 1) President Bush knows where Burma is or 2) President Bush does not know where Burma is, and it was January 25, 2000, where would you put your money?

Exactly.

It's nice that he's trying to salvage his supposed legacy during this time. I'm sure the conservatives who went after Clinton for trying to create a legacy by reaching a peace accord in the Middle East will be ALL OVER BUSH for this one.

The Big Ten Sucks!!!

The Big Ten is the worst conference in college football, ever. Wait, forget that. The Big Ten is the worst conference in college sports, ever. Wait, no, scratch and forget that.
The Big Ten is the worst conference in any sports organization, ever.

Yeah, that's it. The Big Ten is just the worst, period. I no longer take this as opinion, but rather, as fact. The only thing that could make the Big Ten worse than it is right now is if Notre Dame joined the conference. Other than that, nothing else. In fact, if Appalachian State joined the conference it would be a marked improvement, for sure.

This is all fact. The Big East, according to ESPN's "expert analysts" is better than the Big Ten. Of course, if the two conferences lined up right now the Big Ten would wipe them off the map. This goes for the ACC as well. The Pac-10, not so sure. They, afterall, have ONE really good team, period.

But the Big ten, IS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, the WORST CONFERENCE EHHHHHHVERRRRRR!

Right?

I mean, Michigan lost to App. State and Oregon, so it's official. And Penn State lost to Michigan. Nevermind the FACT that Derrick Williams of Penn State was the most sought after recruit in the country, and Michigan shut him down. Or, nevermind the fact that Brandon Graham was the most sought after Linebacker in the nation and played to the level he should be playing at, finally. Or that Ohio State is rolling over people with the most sought after RB in the nation just two years ago. Or that both their WRs will be playing in the NFL after the last two, and the two before that just went to the NFL. Or, that Wisconsin has a great RB, just sent the best OL in college football to the NFL, and has a seemingly great coach.

All of this is irrelevant! It's a terrible conference!!!!!! FACT!

Here's the bottom line, the one the "experts" don't seem to realize. And since making grandioise, retarded, baseless statements is more the norm than coming up with your own intelligent analysis, I want to point this out.

The Big Ten gets some of the best players, and as many, if not more great ones than every conference but one: The SEC. And even the SEC doesn't have that many better players than what the Big Ten has, if they do at all. The reason for this "Big Ten is terrible" chant is because Michigan and Ohio State fell apart in their bowl games last year, and because Michigan's coach is terrible. Therefore, the entire conference is now terrible.

I used to not support the idea of a playoff, but seeing that everyone wants to trample a conference that relies on power after losing some bowl games that are catered to speed, I'm more for it. A playoff system would help teams that are used to the grind it out, as opposed to 50 day layoffs that allow teams to prepare for one team, get healthy, and play on what's most likely going to be a lightning fast track in the south, the desert, or indoors.

You throw any of these teams, whether it be Florida, Tennessee, USC, any of them, into the Big Ten and come the last game of the season these teams won't be running triple reverse option pass plays to a former QB turned WR who's 5'9, 170lbs. By this time of the year that player will be dead. However, give him 50 days to recover and prepare, chances are he'll do a lot better.

So enough of this crap about the Big Ten being terrible because L-L-L-L-Lloyd Carr is terrible. Or because they lost some bowl games, and because Florida played like Villanova against Georgetown (minus Patrick Ewing). The Big Ten is one of the best conferences, period, and will remain so. There's a reason the best recruits are still flocking there. So please spare me the garbage collective groupthink bullshit that's being passed off as analysis on websites and all over television.

Been Away

For over a week with the UFC, so I haven't really had time to see the news, or write about it.

I get back and have two things to say, for the most.

1) Charlie Weis still sucks at coaching. Notre Dame only has 9 1/2 more years to deal with it.

2) Ahmadinejad, who cares? So he speaks at Columbia, who cares? What's the difference? "Oh, he's just like Hitler!" Really? Is he? If he is, why aren't we shooting at him? Why can he travel around New York City while a Jewish Mayor does nothing? Sorry, but he's not just like Hitler. He blows, but Hitler he's not. He's more like, uhh, the Soup Nazi, or something.

This whole Ahmad thing is just one more distraction on the plates of Americans, as we continue not to talk about real problems in our news, but phantom issues. Of course, we don't really talk about how this guy came to power, how we allowed it, or how our foreign policy is a disaster. No, we have tough-sounding politicians getting loud over it. Who fucking cares!?!? Yelling and screaming about this guy speaking, or not speaking, isn't going to change a damn thing!
