You listen to this phone convo, start to finish, and you just know, judging by what Clemens is willing to/not to say, he's guilty.
And obviously, these two were PRETTY CLOSE!

I Love
How the nation just forgets things, or takes things for granted. Liiiike, when the cost of a barrel of oil was $70 and we were all freaking out about it. Welll, now it doesn't matter so much, I guess:
The Commerce Department reported that the trade deficit, the gap between imports and exports, jumped by 9.3 percent, to $63.1 billion. The imbalance was much larger than the $60 billion that had been expected. It's all a coincidence.
The increase was driven by a 16.3 percent surge in America's foreign oil bill, which climbed to an all-time high of $34.4 billion as the per barrel price of imported crude reached new records. With oil prices last week touching $100 per barrel, analysts are forecasting higher oil bills in future months.

Because I Saw It
I am trying to not get worked up about the stupidity I'm hearing on talk radio, and reading in the papers about the SEC dominance over the Big Ten, again.
After the LSU/Ohio State game there were commentators on ESPN who compared the Big Ten to the MAC, this after they picked the Big Ten team to win the game. Short memories.
Yesterday I heard Chris Russo and Mike Francesca say "Ohio State needs to go back to the drawing board..." and "it's the speed, Mikey..." The speed. Uh huh.
Little focus here.
It was the PENALTIES, the MISTAKES, and the DROPPED PASSES. It was also the fact that the most penalized team in the country committed zero penalties other than an excessive celebration and an intentional delay of game. Basically, LSU played a flawless HOME GAME for the National Championship.
In fact, Ohio State outgained LSU, since it was Ohio State who sustained LSU's drives with personal fouls (5 of them).
The only SPEED involved was when Ohio State RB Chris Wells was running away from the LSU defense. If anything, LSU outmuscled Ohio State!
But this game has nothing to do with the perceived reality, since Tennessee also beat Wisconsin. Slow Wisconsin. Did you see that game? Had nothing to do with "speed." It had to do with Tennessee barely winning the game, in an environment much more suited to their style of play than Wisconsin's.
Lets overlook the fact that Michigan should have beaten Florida by 20 points, and basically manhandled them...in Florida. That's not relevant.
LSU played great, Ohio State did not. That's it. That game is played on a NEUTRAL field 10 times, and you'll get 10 extremely different results.
But again, it's the speed, according to the GENIUSES on WFAN. Yes, that's why the fastest players at the combine last year were players named Ginn, Gonzalez, and Roy Hall. Must have been the speed in that Florida game. That's why Malcolm Jenkins is projected to be the top Cornerback taken in this year's draft: The speed. That's why guys like Donte Whitner, AJ Hawk, and countless other recent picks are the fastest at their position...I know, this doesn't make sense, because either does what these idiots are saying. Don't abuse your professions, people.
Last year's game was an anomaly. A team that was overconfident, that lost their star, that got killed. This year's team played poorly, but still had a chance to win. It was more a factor of poor play calling than anything else. But it must have been the speed at which they called those poor plays in.
Lets be realistic here. Ohio State is not a team in decline, regardless of their supposed conference woes. I know, Michigan manhandled Florida, and Ohio State manhandled Michigan. Penn State beat Texas A & M, who recently killed Texas, who just beat Arizona State. That same Penn State team that got destroyed by Ohio State at home. Ohio State killed Washington, who beat Stanford, who beat USC. Yeah, makes sense, I know...Stanford beat USC, but USC beat Illinois, but Illinois beat Ohio State. It all makes sense, I know.
Ohio State doesn't need speed, or anything else, for that matter. They can keep playing in the National Title game, like they did in 2003, when they supposedly beat the most "talented team ever", the Miami Hurricanes. And they did it by manhandling them. I know, I know, a bad call. Whatever. That game never goes to overtime if not for a very bad call in Miami's favor in the first place. Ohio State manhandled that team very recently, and since has played in 2 more title games. 2 years ago they lost to Texas, that incredible Texas team that won it all, and they lost because their Tight End dropped a 4 yard pass, wide open, in the endzone. That's why they lost! Not because of speed, or talent, or anything else. Ohio State plays USC in Miami this year and I think it's an entirely different ball game than the home game LSU just played.
We'll find out in the end, since Ohio State plays at USC the third game of next year. Meanwhile, we'll let people who don't know shit about dick discuss college football, and conference dominance, etc. When that game comes, when Ohio State wins, and they go back to the Big Ten, end the season with one loss, and find themselves back in the title game next year, we'll get to hear about this all over.
Of course, remember, a team as bad as Ohio State can manage to do as well as they did, IN A REBUILDING YEAR!!!

New Hampshah
Man, oh man, The Straight Talk Express, having taken many exits the last few years, and having run low on gas quite a few times, is back, and is as straight as, well, any gay person you may know.
The say anything, do anything candidate is more than willing to shift if the political winds blow in that direction. Aye, aye, Captain!
Let me back up and say for the record I do not mind John McCain anymore than I mind any other decent Republican (it's not an oxymoron, but it's close). Finding more than a handful is tough, but I guess he's as good as we can hope for. Having been a Senator for a few days now, the Senator understands compromise more so than say Rudy, Mitt, or the obvious, George Bush. It's the nature of that beast. So if elected, and fear not, he won't be, but if elected he would at least be the type of person who tries to create coalitions, and actually fix problems.
BUT...if elected, by the time McCain leaves office he'll be nearing EIGHTY YEARS OLD. EIGHT TEEEE YEEEARS OLD. For those keeping score at home, that's, uhhh, not young. In fact, that's, uhhh, pretty damn old.
How many CEOs are receiving the keys to the executive suite for their first time in their mid-70s? In fact, how many people are worried that people in their mid-70s even receive keys to a car? I know I sure am. I've been to Boca Raton, and it's a scary thing.
The older people get, the more quickly their ability to think critically is strained. It's a fact. My dad, same age as John McCain, smart guy, intense, blah blah blah...should not be President. Is he smarter than the current President? No question. But at his age he should not be flying around the world, throwing out first pitches, and dealing with the enormous stress that is being the LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD. No, he should not be, and neither should a man who spent considerable time in a Vietnamese torture prison, and who will more often be seen with very large books in his hand due to the size of the font necessary for him to read them.
John McCain, relatively decent dude. But John McCain should not be President of the United States, even though those that pine for him were very happy with their last senile leader.
