It's Like

A really bad joke:
MUNICH — Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Friday that many Europeans are confused about NATO’s security mission in Afghanistan, and that they do not support the alliance effort because they opposed the American-led invasion of Iraq.

“I worry that for many Europeans the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan are confused,” Mr. Gates said as he flew here to deliver an address at an international security conference.

“I think that they combine the two,” Mr. Gates added. “Many of them, I think, have a problem with our involvement in Iraq, and project that to Afghanistan, and do not understand the very different — for them — the very different kind of threat.”

Speechless.

TP

One day away from the Pryor announcement.

Go Bucks!

Really, Dick?

Dick Vermeil doesn't think the Patriots gained an advantage when they spied on the Rams during their walk through for the Superbowl.
"Personally, I don't think it had any effect on the game," Vermeil said. "That stuff's been going on forever and I don't think you gain from it.
Really? Then why do it? Why risk being caught if it makes no difference?

If it's true that "every team does it" then why aren't these teams being caught? And no, I don't think every team does it, or did it, but believe many have, or did. It just seems like the Patriots apparently did it to another level, or more than most others, or they're the most high profile, or whatever it is, they cheated.

Obviously

If more of the poor would just pickup arms against our enemies they would get all the funding they need.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The record $3.1 trillion budget proposed by President Bush on Monday would produce eyepopping federal deficits, despite his attempts to impose politically wrenching curbs on Medicare and eliminate scores of popular domestic programs.

The Pentagon would receive a $36 billion, 8 percent boost for the 2009 budget year beginning Oct. 1, even as programs aimed at the poor would be cut back or eliminated. Half of domestic Cabinet departments would see their budgets cut outright.

Slumping revenues and the cost of an economic rescue package will combine to produce a huge jump in the deficit to $410 billion this year and $407 billion in 2009, the White House says, just shy of the record $413 billion set four years ago.
Where are them "deficit hawks."

Just One Question

Maybe there are some calls you can challenge in the NFL, and others you cannot, but why was Belicheck allowed to throw his flag when the Giants had too many men on the field? Basically, the refs missed the call, so he threw his flag. But he's not an official; they missed the call, period! Allowing him to overturn a call they didn't make seems a bit ridiculous. If he can do that, why can't a team throw the flag if the ref misses a formation shift penalty, or a play clock expiring?

Just seems that everyone, from coaches, to commentators, to officials blew the call, unless there's an exception in this case.

Dear Fans

If there is one thing I have been proven completely right about in life it is my adoration for Eli Manning. Last night he proved me correct.

You can search Weinish and Manning and read for yourself.

Some things you think, and some things you know. I've always known about Eli Manning.
