Clean Up on Aisle Common Sense

I find the Miller High Life commercials to be pretty comical, and I appreciate the enormous black dude cleaning out all the overpriced refrigerators across the nation, but apparently every single market below 14th Street is overcharging their customers. I say this because I really really like Miller High Life, but I cannot find it ANYWHERE in New York City.

So please, stop unstocking the shelves.

Final Thoughts...For Now...Until There's More

Lets talk more about Spitzer, and this country, and this press, and his enemies, and his life.

First there's Wall St, and their celebration of Spitzer getting caught. Hurray for them! You're all innocent now! Keep patting yourselves on the backs! I already wrote my thoughts about these characters, and their disdain for Spitzer, but in truth, most of those Spitzer went after were doing bad things, and hurting people, period. So shut the fuck up already.

When it comes to doing his job he was apparently doing it well.

Ahh, but there were those that didn't like his heavy-handed ways. When I first heard about this story I immediately wanted to hear and read news about NY State Senator Joseph Bruno, Spitzer's chief rival. Stunned I was to see Bruno on television talking about doing the "state's businesss" and "moving onward." He also added Spitzer needs to "do the right thing." Very civil coming from the man who has been battling Spitzer since day one. This guy is/was involved, is my bet.

Just like I, and so many others, knew Governor McGreevey is gay, I am sure many others knew of Spitzer's trysts. I'm sure Bruno knew as well since there are those who profit by getting such information into the hands of politicians. This of course begs the question of why was Spitzer even being investigated in the first place? I think the answer is pretty obvious: political enemies of Spitzer, many with deep pockets, and many who will offer financial support to Spitzer's enemies made this come about. If you think that's a stretch, well then, you're a fucking idiot who is living under a rock.

Not for a second do I think what Spitzer did is right because it's obviously a violation of the law, but, it's a misdemeanor, and frankly, it's none of my business. Sure, he broke the law, politicians do it all the time, but other than his children we don't know that he harmed anyone. For all we know his wife knew about his activities. I don't presume to know because I have no connection to the Spitzers. I also don't care to know; it's not my business. What is my business is how and why Spitzer was being investigated because I am sure there's a bigger scandal out there than this.

Spitzer is being called a hypocrite for having busted prostitution rings in New York. I guess that's true if he did do that. But does anyone think for a second that the types of prostitution rings Spitzer busted in New York are the same types of prostitution ring he was involved with? Unfortunately I cannot find any historical evidence of the rings he busted because we're flooded with news of this current scandal, but I'm asking this so we can focus on reality.

Prostitution can be a bad thing; the type of thing that ruins communities, leads people to drugs, and causes disease to spread. True, true. Spitzer was dealing with a high end escort service where the women could command up to $50,000! This is not "prostitution" in the street sense where people lives are necessarily being destroyed. Yeah, he could be called a hypocrite, but when you're busting street prostitution rings you are cleaning up communities, which is COMPLETELY different from a high end escort service, which I personally don't even think should be illegal. If he busted high end rings, then yes, he's definitely a hypocrite, but if being one is the big crime Wall St, or anyone else, wants to get worked up about, so be it. Cheers to you.

Everyone is reading this story because it's fascinating on so many levels. Hopefully people will move on from the base story, and move into the background of it, where there's most likely a real story here. Again, how and why was he being investigated in the first place? And why do we give a shit about what this man's personal life is like? It's a misdemeanor, one that's not as bad as drunk driving, or many other crimes that actually hurt the public. He wasn't, for example, trying to take the rights away from gay people all the while getting his dick sucked by one. Obviously not, since if you do that you just get admonished by the same people who are cheering.

Interesting Spitzer Take

Anyone who knows and sees how our government has acted the last 7 years should not be shocked at this story. While Spitzer is in the wrong, you really have to wonder why he was being investigated in the first place.

Enemies.

Someone told someone that he was doing this, and then someone, say Bruno, told some other Republican to find the dirt, and they did.

Oh Wall St, Why You So Happy?

Seriously, I am not surprised to read stories of Wall St celebrating the news of Eliot Spitzer's downfall, but they should honestly shut the fuck up, period.

What Eliot Spitzer did, as of now, is probably a misdemeanor. His crime hurts his family, and himself (yes, and those who voted for him, whatever...), but that doesn't make what he did to Wall St wrong, or those he went after right. In fact, he's still right, and they're still wrong. In fact, those who prosecuted hurt a lot more people than Spitzer ever could, or would. He still hasn't seemingly hurt the public in the way Wall St executives did. I'm sure if you ask the person who lost a lot of savings, or countless others hurt by Wall St fraud, they'd much rather see the executives behind bars.

Besides, of all the people I know in particular professions, it always seemed to me that the blue blooded Wall St hifalutin Yaley asshole was the person who was most likely to be cheating, whether at their jobs, or on their wives and girlfriends. So, maybe they're just happy because they see him as one of their own?

That could have something to do with it.

"You're no better than us!" Well, actually he is, because while a hypocrite, he didn't harm anyone but the Spitzers.

Fascinating

Normally I don't give two shits about scandals like the Spitzer ordeal, but for some reason I can't stop watching it! If it caused traffic then I guess I'd be a hypocrite, but this is something I can do without bothering others.

Obviously, he has to resign, and frankly, I don't care. The only reason I'd want him to stay in office is to see if he could continue to tackle corruption, and get things done. I say this because you'd have papers (and I use that term loosely) like the NY Post and WSJ Editorial Page killing this guy daily, regardless of what he was accomplishing, and that would be the point. It would put on display what's more important: accomplishing things that matter for a state and it's constituents, or attacking a person for certain personal transgressions which have no real baring on what's truly important. Now one could say, "He set a bad example for..." whomever, but then again, who truly looks at a governor as a role model? Have you ever heard anyone say, EVER, "Man, that Governor Davis, he was always my role model."? No, you haven't.

Again, though, he does have the opportunity to continue to be influential, if you're say, a follower of Rush Limbaugh. Remember, according to Rush, it's more of a 'Do What I Say than Do What I Do' world, so if that's the standard, and Spitzer has been successful, he should remain. But no, we have to be realistic about this. Hypocrisy is hypocrisy, and if you fashion yourself as something, you should represent that something. The same cannot be said of President Clinton, who wasn't breaking the law with the crime he committed.

In the end, this can be a lesson to all: hypocrisy will not stand, even if/when it benefits the people you support. Seriously, heed this; I know it's going to be hard for many of you haters since hypocrisy is often the most overlooked trait of Republicans.

Spitzah!

I'm really curious to see how this plays out, the whole thing with Elliot Spitzer, and the possibility that he's banging hookers. Now, this could go in many directions, but I am going to assume it will end with him resigning. After all, this guy fashions himself as the King of the Moral High Ground, so it's going to be tough to play that card, and, more importantly, play it going forward. Isn't this the guy who created some kind of a public integrity commission?

Bottom line, he broke the law, and normally, that's not going to get you in trouble, depending. Again, Senator Larry Craig solicited a MALE prostitute, and remains in the Senate...but of course, he was ADMONISHED! THE HORROR! And there are many others who remain.

I mean, how high is this crime? Is it worse than embezzlement? Doubt it. I mean, is it worse than DRUNK DRIVING? No chance. In fact, this whole things depends on how you look at it. Because if someone can just take this file, lose it; Spitzer gets himself a great lawyer, he can then become President, and make that lawyer the Attorney General.

See, it's all a matter of perspective.

In the end, this guy's dead because he's a jerkoff.
