Love It

So my buddy Keith, a man who is no stranger to thinking and saying some really dumb shit, responded to my Facebook "status" today, which is:
David is... wondering when speaking well and having people like you became a presidential liability...
Keith writes:
speaking well and having people like him is what got him this far

his liability is that he has no experience
David responds:
of course this didn't stop you from voting for Bush....twice...
The goalposts people like this setup have wheels, I tell ya.

Just because you have a position doesn't mean you have gained any experience. Like, who had more worldly experience before the job of President: Bush or Obama? The guy that never left the country versus the guy who lived in other parts of the world, amongst other peoples?

"Dude, he speaks Spanish!"

I maintain, solely to by cocaine from people who don't speak English.

I guess McCain was SO experienced that in order to create balance he had to go out and find the least experienced VP candidate in history. You don't want to be too good at something. Like, too good at giving speechers, or too good at getting people to like you. Gotta bring that shit back to the middle.

So that's McCain, reaching out to the middle by taking all his experience, and blending it with no experience. Sorta the opposite of Obama, who being criticized for not having experience enough, goes and gets someone who has experience in spades.

Yes, it may have occurred to McCain to make the middle above himself, by hiring someone really REALLY qualified, but then he'd neglect all of his dumb voters who are considering a nationwide referendum on a topic called: Science, IS IT REAL?!?!?

Alright, so lets say they both die, McCain, ironically from all his EXPERIENCES, and Obama not surprisingly from a bullet. Who do you want running the NATION?!?!?

Bill Has to Be Excited

I really feel that small town mayors across the country must be feeling great today. Especially the mayor of my former town, East Brunswick, New Jersey. Est. Population, 50,000 people.

Think about, Mayor Bill Neary, one time owner of Dairy Queen, and mayor of the town 5 times the size of the town where the Republican Vice President elect is from, has to be excited. I mean, an operation or two, enlarging his rack, pulling back some neck skin, and this guy is literally, LITERALLY, 1 bullet away from being President of the United States.

Don't get me wrong, Neary is an experienced man. As I said, he did run Dairy Queen, which not only involved monitoring the work of 16-18 year old high school kids, but he also had to make sure the nitrous tank was not abused, which could lead children down a horrible path to drugs. He's tough on drugs.

A few years ago Neary sold DQ to a developer who built a Commerce Bank, which provided the town with thousands of free pens, and helped the community cutdown fatty foods. Clearly a forward thinker.

In addition, Neary received over 10,000 votes in the last election, more votes than VP Elect Palin had citizens in her town! He also served since 1996, which clearly puts the experience factor squarely in his corner.

I don't want to single out Neary alone, as a politician who should be deciding all US Senate matters when there's a 50/50 tie because I'm sure there are loads of inexperienced mayors across the country, some who don't even have a college degree, who are as experienced, but this is the one I know.

Again, I think going forward, this is a great thing. A shot for the little guy, in little towns across America, who have always dreamed of discussing foreign policy with the leaders of North Korea.

Yet another great day in America!

Another GOLD MEDAL for the United States...in Stupidity.

Hilarious

:-)

Clearly

Cindy McCain loves America more than Michelle Obama.

Clearly:
GOP presidential candidate John McCain's wife Cindy took to the airwaves last week, recounting for Jane Pauley (on "Dateline") and Diane Sawyer (on "Good Morning America") the tale of her onetime addiction to Percocet and Vicodin, and the fact that she stole the drugs from her own nonprofit medical relief organization.

It was a brave and obviously painful thing to do.
Gotta love an article that begins like this.

How About Neither?

Obama says he's going to send more troops to fix Afghanistan. McCain says he'll fight the war in Iraq forever.

I want to know what the goal of either war is at this point?

Are we going back to Afghanistan to stop the resurgent Taliban? Doesn't it point out poor of a job we already did there, and how we never really cared? So will we care going forward?

And Iraq, like that's ever going to work. What's the point of Iraq from this point forward? What's our goal? Get the oil? I mean, what is the point? Is it a staging ground for a war we may start with Iran? Obviously, this war has caused more problems than answers, and all of the supporters of the war and the people who started it have been ridiculously wrong, but still, we're stuck with both of them.

What is the point of either at this time?

Correct: there is no point. The troops are there, and they probably have no idea what it is they're trying to accomplish.

I thought wars were only supposed to be fought when you have clear specific objective. I guess that's why Colin Powell is fully out of the picture since his doctrine has been fully ignored in both cases. I mean, you read his "doctrine" now and it's laughable to think about how far from it we strayed. Hence "State" and not "Defense."

The Search Continues...

He ponders:
John McCain said Thursday he had yet to decide on a running mate...

McCain said in an early morning radio interview that he was bringing both former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, two of the leading names on his short list. But he cautioned against assuming that meant either one would be the pick.

"I haven't decided yet so I can't tell you," he told KDKA NewsRadio in Pittsburgh early Thursday.
The search continues for a black man, or a woman.

Damn us!!! Why did we have to waste Condi Rice?!?!?

Gen Kill

I'm pretty bummed Generation Kill is over because the show was great.

It's not surprising to see how messed up Iraq is, and I was also not surprised to see how many bad calls we made over and over and over. What is surprising is how none of the soldiers have refuted anything that took place on the show (or in the book).

Iraq was obviously are horrible choice from the get go, but it was made even more horrible because of the poor leadership, planning, and overall logistics.

It MAY have not been a disaster, but because it was done the way it was, and by the people who did it, it is.

It's like the military higher ups wanted to prove the naysayers right.

The soldiers can acknowledge the mistakes, but the supporters, who are solely supporters for the sake of argument, cannot.

That's a problem.

By Default

I can't help but laugh when I hear people talking about "Hillary said Obama doesn't have the experience...Biden said he likes McCain...Biden said the Presidency isn't where you learn to do the job..." Blah blah blah.

"Hillary and Barack disagree about what to do over __________." Blah blah.

This is the state of talk radio since last week. Of course, if their own do it they won't bring it up again, which I get. Thing of it is, their own really DON'T DO IT! That's right. They all agree! On everything! I mean, there are minor disagreements like, "he supports cutting taxes...but not enough!" and "he believes abortions should be illegal, but I believe life begins at conception!" and "I think our presence in Iraq should last as long as it needs to, and he only wants to be there for 100 years!"

Minor differences.

But that's what you get when you have a group of GUYS, who all have their muffins buttered by the same constituents, who have all formed the same basic platform. That's the thing of it! It's the same white guy, it's the same old ideas that don't work, and it's a bit of the religious nonsense to reach out to God's children so they goto the polls. Yet it seemed to me in the Republican race for the nominee they all had their one thing they did slightly different from the other guy, and in the end, Mr. Vanilla came out on top because he just had enough of the bullshit, but not too much, in every category. Tah daah! Here he is, McCain!

Yeah, sorry, I'm for the people that bash each other and drag it out, and have differences of opinion on a range of topics. I'm for a bit of diversity, which has taken ages to accomplish. And I'm not retarded, so I understand that in a fight you will say things to come out on top. After all, I don't think my girlfriend really wants me dead, even though she has said it.

Problem is, now I can't run for office anywhere because of it.

Narrator:

"David Weintraub once dated a girl, who said she wanted him dead. Not once. Not twice. But 72 times!"

"That's right. SEVENTY TWO TIMES."

"Are you going to vote for a man whose girlfriend wished he was dead 72 times?"

"We don't think you should."

"Jesus only died once; partially for the sins of David Weintraub."

"Paid for by the Committee that Hates David Weintraub and Loves Jesus."

Just Say It

Freedom.

Liberty.

Freedom.

Don't you feel better already?

Do it again.

Freedom.

Democracy.

Freedom.

Freedom.

Too Many Options Here

Reading this, there are so many places one could take this:
"The next president must bring to office a clear-eyed view of our nation's role in the world as the defender of the oppressed and a force for peace," McCain told a convention of the American Legion, a friendly audience for McCain, a former Navy aviator and one-time prisoner of war in Vietnam.
I wonder if he reminded them how he continually cuts their benefits?

I think the benefits issues becomes a major theme in this campaign. Oh, and there's this about his cutting of education benefits for returning soldiers.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know, you were in Vietnam, you were shot down, you didn't leave your men when they wanted to send you back. I get it.

But...

Then you got back, married rich, don't really care about benefits, had a father in the Navy, made all the right connections, and now don't really give two shits about the health of current and former servicemen.

"I'm John McCain, and I don't support this message...even though it's true."

It's More Sad Than Anything

I'm watching Michelle Obama to an admirable job at the DNC. It cannot be easy for many reasons, but she's doing her best.

I haven't loved Barack, but I really have liked her the whole time, and it's been sad to see what people say about her. But whatever, it's America; I've come to expect it.

With all this said, watching her, I can't help but think how sad it is this country has never nominted a black person, in either party, for President. Or even a woman, for that matter.

GO WHITE MEN!!! You really make it feel like a melting pot.

Bring on the fear, McCain.

Crazy Ass Cindy

Who didn't see the Times article on Cindy McCain this weekend?

Well, you need to.

While Michelle O. is out hating America, Cindy is out LOVING IT!

When she's not teaching the nations' children, she's speeding around in her Porsche, while making sure her half-sister doesn't see a dime, nor the kids. Or, maybe she's making sure the poor people don't have beds to sleep in? Who knows? So much money, so little time!

Basically, the story of a fucking whack job who has probably sucked more cack and blown more lines than Bush ever could. Typical, up from nothing Republican tale...

The VP Matters!

If you're under the opinion the Vice Presidency doesn't matter, think again. Obviously, we're going to survive the 8 years of Furor Cheney, but his position clearly matters. We'll be feeling it for decades.

But we were assured that since Bush didn't know anything Cheney would pick up the pieces. That's like the one thing they didn't lie about. He more than picked 'em up.

Of course, running with John Kerry was internment camp prisoner Lieberman. He was a force. It's like he was actually helping the Democrats lose so he could get a cushy job upon retirement amongst the Reich.

Now we have two more VPs candidates on the way, and they definitely matter.

You will really want to consider them as the next next presidents because there's a solid chance McCain could die in office, or just start forgetting everything going on in the world. I can see it now, 2 years from today, President McCain, waking up in one of his homes, somewhere, a place he's not sure of, turning to Cindy and saying, "I think I may run for President..."

But again, he could die. He's old. Good thing he has a driver. He should definitely add another home in Boca Raton.

Then there's Obama, who's probably getting shot. Take a Biden Vice Presidency seriously. Afterall, he was the candidate I supported from the outset.
