Obviously

Life for the McCains is always about the McCains:
McCain's addiction also embroiled her with one of her charity's former employees, Tom Gosinski, who reported her drug use to the DEA and provided prosecutors with a contemporaneous journal that detailed the effects of her drug problems. He was later accused by a lawyer for McCain of trying to extort money from the McCain family.

"It's not just about her addiction, it's what she did to cover up her addiction and the lives of other people that she ruined, or put at jeopardy at least," Gosinski said in an interview this week.

Cindy and John McCain declined repeated requests to be interviewed for this article. The McCain campaign also declined to comment.

I Know You Don't Care

Since you're occupying your whole day "remembering" things. But I care about things too, and I am wondering how going into Pakistan militarily, on the down low, is legal.

Did Congress authorize the use of force within Pakistan? Does the War on Terror, because it was declared, mean the United States can go wherever it wants, whenever it wants, and start blowing shit up? Does the President not need approval to do this?

I know the haters don't care what we do, as long as there are tax cuts, but world hate comes back to haunt, like it did on that FATEFUL DAY, which I will NEVER FORGET.

Logic is lost on most of you, I'm sure. I would imagine you think we are killing all the terrorists in Pakistan so they don't come here and kill us. That's a good one. But still, is this legal, and I ask seriously.

Does anyone know?

Where Were You?

I want to know where you were on "9/11", I really do. And more importantly than that, I want you to "never forget. Never forget."

How could you forget? And who in the world thinks they should be telling someone else "not to?" Why do you give a shit if I forget, or forgot? How dumb would I have to be to forget, and do you really think it's important that someone who actually forgot to not forget? Don't you think that person is kind of dumb, and irrelevant, if they did forget?

What's the point?

I didn't forget how they shortchanged first responders, and how families are begging for money, and how groups of people still to this day cannot breathe because they volunteered to help, but weren't supposed to be there and now are dying without assistance. I didn't forget that, at all.

I haven't forgotten the wars we started in the name of not forgetting, and how the world is much worse off because of those who never forgot. In fact, I wish the Republicans would forget, then they'd stop doing the things they've done to make the world worse.

I didn't forget the administration that did nothing when warned. I didn't forget that. I won't.

I didn't forget the blame passed to President Clinton for not getting bin Laden. I won't forget Bush not capturing either having spent billions to do so.

These are the things I will not forget.

I won't forget the thousands of innocents, many children, across the world who have been killed because we bombed them while we were not forgetting.

I won't forget the flag pin on the lapels of all the politicians. Proof they remember.

All in all, I won't forget Guy Barzvi, a friend, who died on September 11th, 2001, while at work. I won't forget seeing his face on the side of St. Vincent's hospital, more pronounced than any other. I will not forget what a great guy he was. I will also remember what a peaceful guy he was, and how he would never want to see the world the way it is now. How he would never want the world to be made a worse off place in his name, as people chose not to forget on his behalf.

The only thing I really want to forget on this day is the names of people I know, and the faces of others, who tell me "never forget." That's what I want to forget; that I am actually considered part of a larger group that includes you people. Help me to forget that.

Oh Andy

It was one thing when Andrew Sullivan was anti-Bush because he's Sully is anti-dumb.

But this is different. When you've lost him, I'd suggest you've lost.

Integrity? What integrity?

Just Cause I'm a Gambler

Since I don't watch the news much it's hard for me keep up with the Palin Express.

It just asked myself, while I was lying here in bed, about to fall asleep, "how long has Palin's pregnant daughter been dating this kid she goes to high school with?"

"Does anyone really think these two are getting married? Do Republicans who are voting for her even give a shit?"

First off, I could care less if they've been dating since they were 8. It's kinda fucked up that she's pregnant, and now there's an announcement they're getting married. A little young, no? Again, how long have they been dating? Are they getting married because she's pregnant? Is that not irresponsible? In this day and age, isn't the site of a single mom very common, and a sign of independence? Would that not truly be representative of a strong woman? As opposed to a woman with baby in tow, having to marry the man to keep the family unit together for sake of the child.

Meanwhile, this kid is like, "Man oh man, did I fuck the right girl or what?" He has had more high fives thrown his way in the last 3 weeks than he has in his life. Kid just fucked a gold mine.

I'll say it now, there's no chance these two get married, and stay married for more than a year, tops. But honestly, they're not even getting married. Just a ploy for Republicans to once again justify their reason for voting for a tax cut and against abortion. Ends justify the means, the way they see it.

This woman couldn't even manage her family as governor, and now she might move to Washington D.C. Seems pretty responsible to me.

Sweeeeet,,,,

Going after a legacy at the expense of the nation.

Nice.

How is this legal?

That's It

I was reading an article about McEnroe in the Times Magazine, and his wife Patty Smyth made a comment describing him, which I felt near perfectly described me:
“He definitely cares what people think,” Smyth says. “He definitely gets wounded. He just doesn’t ever let what people think dictate what he does.”
And I never will.

:-)

FUCK AUTOMATION

Trying to schedule a flight on United on the phone, and the first thing I'm told is "If you would like to schedule this flight through one of our agents a twenty five dollar fee will be assessed. You can avoid the fee by using our automated service. Would you like to use the automated service?" This, of course, asked to me by an automated "guy."

So after going through the rigmarole with the automated "guy" for 12 minutes, we've come to the conclusion, well, at least I did, that it was going to take an actual human being to process my request. See, I was using a voucher, and they haven't yet programmed the "guy" to handle this request.

"Hello, sir, my name is Carlos..."

This should be fun.

Oddly enough, Carlos understands less than the automated guy, and where I previously had to repeat everything only twice, with Carlos it's more like 3-4 times. Awesome.

"Carlos, will I have to pay the twenty five dollar fee by using you."

"Yes, sir, you will. If you want you can use your automa..."

"Right, right, I know. Lets just do this already."

After not being able to process my voucher because it has to be purchased at least 14 days out (of course the voucher doesn't say this, but I was "told this when" I "received the voucher." He knows, Carlos, he was there in Las Vegas, I'm sure), I end up hanging up on the guy mid-his-sentence. It occurred to me that United is going to use the $25 fee to pay Carlos, and in place of him the job just gets automated, poorly, I might add. So jobs are not being displaced over at United to other parts of the world, they're being REMOVED FROM THE WORLD ALTOGETHER!

That's progress.

RIP

It's a shame when a guy like Evan Tanner loses his way.

He was a great person, and someone I'm glad I knew.

Cheers, ET. You'll be missed by all who knew you.
