WOW

Ashton Kutcher just said something so insightful I can't believe he thought of it himself.

On the Bill Maher show he said:
You know who should be bailing out the auto makers? The OIL COMPANIES!

I mean, I completely do not agree with an automotive bailout. For years and years these companies could have taken a leap ahead of the curve and built hybrid cars and other responsible vehicles. Instead, they chose to add a foot onto a SUV to create an EXCURSION which they could take a few more thousand onto while eating up more oil/gas.

The US automakers generally build ugly cars which are not efficient, and I cannot remember in my life time when one of these companies was deemed successful. For as long as I can remember they've sucked at doing business, and now they want to get while the getting is good because there's a money bag? Of course they do.

Yes, the automakers suffers because of the high overheads and bad deals with unions in addition to their crap cars, but now they will all sink together. It's too bad, it really is, but I can't imagine how these companies will stay in business even with a bailout. They make shit cars no one wants. Why bail them out? Because things are bad in other sectors? Is it an effort to make sure these people don't fall on hard times amidst all the other hard times? That would mean this case is not being judged on its merits, but it has been packaged in with the rest of the garbage. That's not good.

Ashton Kutcher is right, the oil companies should bailout the automakers since the one fed the other, and the feeder has been cleaning up more than any other sector. In fact, not "more" so, but the ONLY sector that seems to be cleaning up. They can bailout the other, and leave the taxpayer dollars alone, since the taxpayers are already fighting a war on behalf of the oil companies in the first place.

Post

I've not been posting much for a few reasons:

1) Been traveling a shit ton.

2) Part of the travel was vacay, so I didn't want to think about the drama. Plus, I was reading books most of the time and not newspapers/periodicals. I did watch TV a bit, and the sight of Palin-on-Repeat made me want to post, but I just figure if we all ignore her and the nonsense she drags to the table then she'll go away. I'd bet I'm figuring wrong.

3) Post-Obama hangover. This session is so lame duck.

With economy on the fritz, etc. etc., I'm just waiting (like everyone) to see how it plays out. I don't see a real need to comment on the latest bailout because it a) may change b) needs to be in place for a while and c) I don't lend any expertise to the matter in a serious way (Yes, I know some of you want to comment on that comment, but you come here on your own).

Ever since Obama won I felt a sense of relief; waiting for grown ups who aren't scared of their own shadows to take over. So I've got that...

4) I've got my own shit going on, and it's added drama to my life. Just trying to deal with things as they come at me.

5) Below Me.
