About Afghanistan.
I can't even remember when I started this blog; I'm sure I could look. Definitely a while ago. I'm sure one of the reasons I started it was because of the conflict in Afghanistan. When it happened I felt it was just, on some level, or at least in as much as a war is just.
If you want to know how much they cost, feel free to click here and vomit.
Definitely don't have a lot to say except when I read the news about the ongoing conflict I realized nothing has changed since day 1, other than the fact I don't see the name Osama bin Laden plastered throughout every article. That ship has sailed. (Note: I think it's funny Blogger has a red line under the name Osama as if I'm spelling it wrong, and may want to replace it with Osaka, Asama, Osage, Osman, or Asman. As if THOSE NAMES are common...)
Anyway...point being, nothing has changed since we got there, and in all likelihood things have only worsened. This is because Afghanistan was never the real target, and Iraq was. Afghanistan was the excuse to just get us moving in that direction.
I write this now because I ask, in light of today's news, which is no different than any other fucking day, how does this end?
The answer: just like yesterday. Just like last year. Just like the previous 5 years. Nothing is going to change, ever. It only gets worse.
So why stay? Who is responsible for pulling us out altogether? And what happens when someone does? Who is to blame?
Well, there's no reason to stay unless you're only going to build schools and give them water/irrigation systems. Nothing else matters.
Who is responsible? Bush and Cheney will always be (and the rest), but they won't be blamed.
When someone does that person will be blamed. That person will be Obama, whose name, I just noticed, also gets a red line.
We just need to pull out and take responsibility. But quite frankly, we're such a irresponsible nation I don't see us doing that quickly.
Meanwhile, I'll continue to read the same article I've been reading for 7 years. The one about a guy named Mohammad disagreeing with a guy named Hamid, fighting over different factions, which could disrupt a vote that will amount to nothing anyway. Any discussion about votes should fall under the heading, The Election that Cried Wolf.
Oh, and of course...meh, on second thought, fuck it. Nothing. Go about your business.
Or, watch this music video because that's what I'm going to do.
