Things Republicans Will Ignore This Week

As I read the paper, that's what comes to my mind, "Oh, yeah, Republicans will TOTALLY ignore that..."

So here's this weekend's take:

Paul Krugman's commentary that "austerity measures", as suggested by Mitt Rohttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifmney and others as a solution after the economic meltdown, were the wrong way to go. Greece is ACTUAL proof of this.

He's further predicting nothing will come of the EU's late help as well.

“The problem with all previous rounds has been that austerity policies depress the economy to such an extent that it wipes out most of the topline fiscal gains: revenue falls, so does GDP, so the projected debt/GDP ratio gets, if anything, worse,” Krugman wrote in his blog.

“Now we have another round of austerity — which is assumed not to do too much damage to growth. The triumph of hope over experience.”

Don't worry, Republicans, if he's right you can just bring up another topic, having nothing to do with this one, where he was wrong, which will be reason enough to ignore all of this factual stuff.

And then there's this article about air pollutants. I mean, if anything is going to be ignored by Republicans this week, IT IS MOST CERTAINLY THIS:

Fine atmospheric particles — smaller than one-thirtieth of the diameter of a human hair — were identified more than 20 years ago as the most lethal of the widely dispersed air pollutants in the United States. Linked to both heart and lung disease, they kill an estimated 50,000 Americans each year. But more recently, scientists have been puzzled to learn that a subset of these particles, called secondary organic aerosols, has a greater total mass, and is thus more dangerous, than previously understood.

More dangerous means more money, and we ain't gone be spendin' no mo money on no pollution things...

Finally, something I already mentioned last week, the price of gas/oil rising. It will be blamed on Obama, of course.

I point out the cost of a barrel over the last 12 years. This chart below is a great indication of who is really at fault. But don't let the numbers confuse you because anyone who knows anything is aware that both statistics and math have a liberal bias.
